Washington State Railroads Historical Society Museum

The museum operates from the Tacoma Avenue address with an additional display of rolling stock at the Port of Pasco and is dedicated to preserving the history of "All" the railroads that helped build the State of Washington, from the Great Northern Railway, Milwaukee Road, to the Northern Pacific, Union Pacific, SP&S Railway and all the railroads in between.

What You Can See At The Museum!

Washington's railroad heritage is more than large steam engines or silver stream liners. For example, the W.S.R.H.S. collection includes a rusty nail, Because 130 years ago that nail held an iron strap on wooden rails for the first common carrier railroad in the Washington Territory. With the first little train that clattered over that nail, our State began to take shape from a frontier territory. Our population, our industries, even the nature of our agriculture was determined by that ragtag little train and the mighty railroads that followed it.

It also includes a rolling stock complied of the Northern Pacific Locomotive # 2626, locomotive oil cans & telegraph, glass battery jar, diesel locomotive bell, brass caboose whistle, photo's of Pasco's first three depot's and the Pasco rail-yards, history & photo's of The North Coast Railroad and The Wellington Disaster In 1910, Northern Pacific Engine # 6000's brass air horn, Washington state's oldest surviving locomotive, late 1800s locomotive head & matching tender lamp, a road signal relay from NP, SP&S, & 1914 Milwaukee, telegraph history & equipment, various marker, caboose, & switch man's lamps and lanterns, an ever expanding railroad reference library, railroad bathroom items, and much, much more!!!!
